This website is a source of information and recourses for the residents of Rowstock and surrounding area.

Where is Rowstock?

The hamlet of Rowstock is a collection of houses alongside the A4130 (North to South) and the A417 East to West, most of which back onto open countryside, there is also one garage and one small roundabout. It is located between the villages of Harwell and East Hendred at the foot of the Berkshire Downs.

The roundabout and indeed the occasional traffic problems are frequently the subject of heated debate although, since the opening of the new Southbound exit to the A34 at Chilton in November 2016 (for Science Park Traffic) those traffic problems are far less than they used to be.

About Rowstock Residents Association

Rowstock Residents Association was formed in 2021 to safeguard and promote the interests of the residents and businesses in the Rowstock area.

We are a non-party party political association run by local resident volunteers and focus on traffic related issues given their potential to disrupt our lives and be detrimental to our well-being.

Our first campaign, lasting around 12 months, was to oppose the development of land adjacent to Milton Hill House Hotel into a gigantic 24 hour warehousing and distribution complex that would generate huge numbers of articulated vehicle movements through the village.

Our presentation to Vale of White Horse Planning Committee resulted in the proposal being rejected unanimously. An appeal against this decision was withdrawn by the developer shortly before the appeal hearing date and following further representations from RRA.
